InvestEd is a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching financial literacy to elementary school students in the Long Beach Unified School District. Our engaging, hands-on curriculum helps children develop essential money management skills, such as budgeting, saving, and investing, in a fun and age-appropriate way. By fostering financial confidence early, we empower students to make informed decisions that will benefit them for a lifetime.

Our program consists of a 10-week course where students participate in interactive lessons aligned with California academic standards. Each class includes real-world simulations, discussions, and activities designed to help students understand financial concepts in a meaningful way. We also incorporate The Stock Market Game and InvestWrite essay competitions to reinforce learning and provide valuable hands-on experience.

InvestEd charges $1,000 per classroom (up to 33 kids) for a 10-week session. This includes instructor-led lessons, interactive learning materials, and student incentives such as $2 bills to reinforce real-world financial concepts. We work closely with PTA organizations and grants to make our program accessible to as many students as possible.

Our instructors have backgrounds in finance, education, and nonprofit leadership, ensuring that students receive high-quality, engaging instruction. InvestEd was founded by Mechelle Maier, a former Vice President at Chase Private Client Services and a passionate advocate for financial literacy. We also seek partnerships with local university students to serve as classroom mentors, enriching the learning experience for students.

We welcome support in several ways:
Schools & PTAs: If you’re interested in bringing InvestEd to your school, contact us to schedule a presentation for your PTA or administration.
Parents: Advocate for financial literacy by encouraging your child’s school to participate in InvestEd.
Volunteers: We offer opportunities for community members and college students to assist in classrooms or provide mentorship.
Donors & Sponsors: InvestEd is a nonprofit, and every contribution helps us expand financial literacy education to more students. Donations are tax-deductible and directly support classroom materials and student programs.
